how can i copy a dvd to my computer...i have a G5 macintosh.
If it is a data DVD or a non-copy-protected DVD, just use Disk Utility
or drag the contents.
If it is a copy-protected DVD (such as a commercial "movie" DVD), you
are going to need an application that removes the copy-protection. The
use of these utilities is a contested area of copyright law in many
countries (including the US) -- individual rights activists insisting
that backups for personal use are "fair use" and the motion picture
industry and their litigious arm, the MPAA, insisting that removal of
the protection is a direct violation of the Digital Millennium
Copyright Act and proscribed. That said, "Mac the Ripper" and "DVD
CopyX" are two such programs.
