Apple DVD upgrade from 10.3.x, I ordered the latest Apple 10.4.6 DVD to
upgrade from 10.4.2 to 10.4.6 so that I can then download and apply any
forthcoming security patches. Unfortunately, at my age (82+), I most
likely will not go to Leopard, so 10.4.x will be my final OS.
enough to see Apple stop supporting OS X.
However, on MacFixIt and MacInTouch, I've seen a raft of problemsI have two G3 imacs (bondi blues), a G4 emac, a G3 powerbook, a G4
associated with 10.4.6 upgrades via downloads.
So, my question is: Can I use the new Apple 10.4.6 DVD to upgrade
without the apparent host of problems and questions that abound?
I'm running the last production model of the iMacG4, 1 Gig memory, one
user, not connected to a local network, dial-up, solo HP 2300 laserjet
printer, Eudora, Camino 1.0.1, ClamX AV. No iChat, no IMovies, no
iTunes.
ibook, and a mac mini (pre intel). The last two mentioned have a Gig of
memory, the rest are getting by with as little as 512 kb. All are
running 10.4.6 and none are having any problem with it. I wouldn't
worry. Go to 10.4.6 and in the future drop by Apple's web site for
upgrades.
TIA
