Hello again,
Thank you very much to all of you for your answers. Well, please have
som patience with me, dont hit so hard ;-) I have never ever tried to
make a homepage before and know almost nothing of HTML.
Most of us don't. I, personally, know very little HTML, am acutely aware of
just how little I know, and, frankly, farm out just about any web-building
task above the most basic to someone who _does_ know what they're doing.
I can understand from your answers that FrontPage is obviously not a
good choice for building a homepage. But this is the only tool, I know
and have installed on my computer.
If you have Word, you have something which can hack HTML. It doesn't do it
well, but it does do it better than FrontPage. Seriously.
And in regards to the HTML - learn
to code properly and stick to standards, someone said ;-). Well, sorry,
all HTML in my homepage was generated from FrontPage itself. As I do
not know how to write HTML, I have not manually programmed anything,
and therefore I do not know what is wrong with it and which standards
to stick to. The only thing "handmade" was the Style sheet, which a
friend made for me. And the meta keywords, from the same friend.
And as for the 41 errors described in the validation report, which one
of you was kind to give a link to... I surely understand that this is
not ok, but due to my lacking knowledge of HTML I can do very litte
about this.
Any suggestions? As I cannot ditch FrontPage, should I try to build the
pages using only tables, i.e. no frames? Would this eliminate some of
the problems? A web designer, I know, suggested this to me today.
If the page has to be up and running properly as soon as possible, I'd hire
someone, such as that web designer you mentioned. I don't know enough HTML to
know if ditching frames would be of significant help. I do know that it's
possible to get much better results than FrontPage can produce by using
GoLive or Dreamweaver, even if you are building your page with the manual and
a book on HTML open beside the computer as you work. Obviously someone who
actually knows what they're doing would do better, but it'd be a start.
Thank you very much,
Best regards,
Helle Nielsen

Hello,
I have a small personal company, which main product is Microsoft Word
templates, Word programming and problem solving within Microsoft Word.
I have made my company homepage, www.wordspecialisten.dk, in
Frontpage, using frames. It looks perfect in Internet Explorer, but
one of my costumers, a graphic designer who uses the browser Safari
2.0.3, reports to me that my homepage does not appear correctly in
this browser. He sent me a screen dump - and how right he is.
No contents are shown in any frames, only the background colour - not
text or pages at all. And the frames are not showed 100% correct.
Can anybody lead me in the right direction in regards to a solution to
this problem? Thank you very much in advance for any help,
Best regards,

Yes, please stick to standards. That means don't use FP, learn to code
properly and don't rely so much on content which requires plugins
which people (1) may disable, (2) may not wish to install, and/or (3)
may be unavailable.
If you want to reach everyone, that is.
And thank you for asking this, the issue is often ignored by MS users.
