I just updated Office 2004 (using MS Update function with update from 14
Mar 06, I think) on my 15" PB running OS 10.4.2. Word opens fine in my
admin account, but when my daughter logs in and trys to open Word,
Classic OS 9 trys to start up and Word will not open. Excel and
Powerpoint work fine. I tried trashing the Word plist file in my
daughters account but to no avail. Any ideas?

Not sure what caused the issue, but I have an idea that might solve it:
On her account, have to select (not open) a Word file. Under the file
menu in the Finder, select "Open with ->" and there should be an option
for the OS X version of Word. Before choosing it, hold the Option key
down, and the menu will change to "Always open with ->" -- that
*should* fix the issue and change the default for Word files to be the
OS X version of Word.

Does that help?
