I just noticed that preferences start-up disk now give me a choice
between network start-up (with a ? on the icon) and MAC OSX on Macintosh
HD. I am supposing that I want to go with MHD and then restart. Correct?

Unless you have, and want to use a network startup, then yes, I would use the
Mac HD as a startup disk. Since the Network Startup has a question mark, I'm
assuming that you don't have this capability. So choosing this would not
work.
