Indeed. Quite so. Hey, there's nothing wrong with not knowing how to do
things like that. Probably most people in the world don't, including
some darned smart ones. But those people have no business trying to
learn it fiddling around in the inards of a computer. That's so
unreasonable that it isn't even funny.

Further, I find it important to let the OP know that he could very well
cause far more serious problems than he solves. He could take a machine
with a minor, easily fixed problem, and turn it into worthless junk. He
could destroy other equipment in the process. He could even seriously
injure himself (power supply problems have some real potential for
that).

If a loved one had symptoms of appendicitis, would he post saying that
he had a scalpel, but was't sure which end to cut with, and asking for
advice on the net. :-(
