Hello to All !
I just purchases a Belkin Pre N wireless router, to replace my old
D-Link. One issue which I have been having since I "upgraded" to the
Belkin is that my Internet connection goes away, and I get prompmted to
use the network diagnostic utility and I have to re authenticate to my
connection. I have the wireless set up to not broadcast the SSID and
I'm using the WPA encryption option on the router. I'm not sure if
there is a option on my ibook that I need to change, I'm running tiger
(I just purchased the ibook in December). I have also chnaged the
password on the router (not the default) as well as the SSID (agian not
default)
I was having a similar problem with the DLink but not has frequent as
with the Belkin.Sometimes it goes all day without an issue and other
times the connection gets lost up to 7 or 8 times a day.
If anyone can help me out before I lose my mind that would be great.
My opinion is that there is more to be lost than gained by operating a
"closed" network (i.e. one that doesn't broadcast the SSID). It's easy
enough to find such a network if one's intention is cracking. However,
broadcasting the SSID will alert other wireless base stations of the
potential for conflict in channel assignment and _may_ produce less
interference.
