are there any key combos I can try on boot-up?
any known weak spots on an old iMac that might need replacement if it's

suggestions appreciated
Two questions.
1. How big is the hard drive? If it is larger than 8 GB, you MUST
partition it. The first partition MUST be less than or equal to 8 GB and
the system MUST be installed in the first partition.
2. What CD are you trying to use to boot it? In nearly 100% of all cases
where I have seen or heard of someone say "it will not boot from CD,"
the problem is simple: the person is using the wrong CD. Either it is
not a bootable CD, or it is a CD that can not boot that particular
machine.
