VCD is, essentially, a "low-res" distribution format. You'll have a
352x240 resolution picture (NTSC) at only 1150 kilobits/sec. Think of
it as "VHS resolution." note that there will also be signal loss
involved in transcoding from one lossy format (DivX or xvid AVI, for
example) to another (VCD-compatible MPEG-1).
I used to create LOTS of VCDs, but finally just bought a couple of
Philips 642 DVD players that will play DivX and xvid as well as VCD,
SVCD, and DVD (for under US$60 each). Now, the only VCDs I burn are
ones created by my old, original EyeTV unit that doesn't get much use
since I also have two EyeTV 200 units.
