Well - one simple way to do it is to build the CD project as an offline
"Web site" and use freely available html and web image manipulation
tools. This has the added advantage of letting the resulting CD be
totally platform independent.
Images, movies and sounds can then be in any widely available format
(QuickTime, WMP, etc) and pages linked normally using file://-URLs in
the html. You can include online links to offer CD updates or links to
auxiliary software. (QuickTime, Windows Media Player or whatever else
that might be necessary.)
Search Versiontracker or other software sites for "Web design" or some
such, and you should see results.
The disadvantage is that you cannot easily run any database-driven stuff
(run the CD as a "dynamic web site") this way without installing
database software on the host computer, so the CD "site" would be
static.
