(Following comments based on 10.3.8)
Window shades. I miss my window shades. I used them ALL the time. Have
three documents open and just quickly want to check between them or do a
quick copy and paste? Double-click, look, copy, double-click, paste. Same
for desktop windows. Leave them there but shut them. Double-click em as
you need em. The new alternatives are cute, slow, sometime amusing and
mostly next to useless. Double-click the title bar and your document flies
off to the dock and you have to physically go and get it back. Expose is
surely useful for some people but - err - yuck. If I want animation,
I'll rent Foghorn Leghorn.
I also miss Apple-N = New Folder. I still can't se any logical reason why
this was changed so that it opens another window (Yeah, they call it "new"
window but it's just another window, it's not new really.). In every
application except the OS X Desktop, Apple-N creates something that didn't
previously exist. It should work that way in the desktop too. It they want
to open "new" windows, do it with Apple-Shift N.
I also miss not be able to press Enter on a highlighted folder in a
file-dialog and have it open that folder ready to navigate. I used to just
go File > Open > Press a letter for the folder, enter to open it, Letter
to navigate, Enter if need be and so on through the tree. Now I have to
stop and double-click the folder or click "Open" to work through the tree.
I dislike the limited positioning options for the dock. Why can't I put if
bottom-right if I want to?
F2, F3, F4 = Cut, Copy, Paste. Not any more :(
