Best personal printer for OCCASIONAL printing?

I do most of my printing at work: not only is the prnter much better
there but also that's where most of the printin is mostly needed.

As a result my home printer (Epson Photo 820) gets very little use.
Still I do need to print at home occasionally and when I do, I find the
cartridge has dried up.

What would be the best-value in printers for occasional printing? I am
willing to consider lasers or ink jets.
