As far as I know, I did the same thing with both drives. The one at
work is a LaCie. I'm not sure what the brand is for the drive at home
(I'm currently at work). I must admit that I didn't know that some
Firewire drives weren't bootable. How do you tell which ones are?

After the install was finished, I just clicked on the "restart" button.
It was obviously trying to communicate with the external drive, since
nothing happened. When I turned off the external drive and rebooted, I
first got a folder with a question mark, followed by a normal boot. I
assume it was trying to find the external drive, and couldn't. Of
course, I could be wrong about this.
