Agreed.

Somewhat agree, although I think that I am a lot more tolerant in that
respect than most others in this NG.
The thing is, Mac users have a small share of the computer market,
which hurts us in many ways.
Slapping newbies down in this NG only aggravates that situation.
Using Macs should be a pleasurable activity, not one that has a lot of
painful searching and criticism associated with it.
Now once a newbie gets "hooked" by the Mac and sees what a desirable
alternative it is, compared to a PC, then it might be time to suggest
in a very diplomatic and subtle manner for him to do a little bit more
research on his own.
I did not recognize the OP as any sort of "regular" poster in this NG,
so of course I would NEVER criticism him, even mildly.
Now, I am what I like to think of as an "Advanced Newbie", who was been
taken in hook, line, and sinker by the Mac platform - - - so there is
zero chance that I will ever become discouraged by criticism.
I am used to criticism, expect a lot of it in this NG.
Seems to me that we would all be better off if there was a lot less
criticism in this NG, and a lot more encouragement of newbies.
BTW, wonder what happened to the OP. Likely he was frightened off by
the discouraging remarks sent his way, and we will never hear from him
again.
Very Good people, you have all managed to discourage yet another newbie.
Keep that up and Apple's market share will fall even lower, and we will
all suffer even more from the lack of good software that is available
for the PC, but not for the Mac - - - like top-flight speech dictation
software, as one small example.
