I live in NYC, I'm not used to dealing with that species. ;-)

Syncing two folders might well have been a feature of CCC that I miss in
SD, which appears only to let me clone a volume. I also recall getting
many messages asking me to repair permissions with CCC. SD seems to do
that itself flawlessly each time I run it. I've yet to run a clone
operation and not return to the computer and find it completed without a
hitch. It will also run in the background while I'm working. I assume it
misses open documents of course, but it doesn't falter. I did get tired
of having to do it only at night and sprung for the twenty bucks to
reduce the time to minutes.

Dragging full folders ensures not only that I'll have any odd document I
might want to see, but reduces the risk I'll leave something behind that
I might need. For me it would make sense to leave a large photo file,
but application support and full user library would be useful. That
would also seem to remove most of the need for .mac, with the one
exception that while traveling, I can't really back up except to
CD-R(W). My understanding is that all of my bookmarks, addresses and
mail are stored in the user library (a large folder, twice the size of
my document folder, but still manageable on my laptop.

I seem to recall getting an error message the last time I tried to drag
my entire user file, but it may have been because I had forgotten to
close a program now that you mention it.
