I recently saw the err of my ways and removed Norton AntiVirus from my PowerBook (running Tiger). I'm cleaning house, deleting files that Norton left on my system, and I have a hidden file in the root directory- something called NAVMac800QSFle that Norton apparently creates when it first scans your system for reference later- that I can't delete. I only found it upon running a program that evaluates your disk space usage called Disk Inventory X. I tried deleting the file from within Disk Inventory X, but I don't have sufficient access privileges. I don't know jack about using the root account (I just know it's powerful and dangerous if you don't know what you're doing). Can anyone offer advice on how to delete this file? I can't even see it in Finder.
Thanks in advance.

As far as not being able to see the file you can open terminal and type "ls -la" and you should be able to see it then. (You must of course be in the directory it is in.)
As for deleting it, you can use sudo. "sudo rm filename"
you will be prompted for your passwrd.
As for root being dangerous, it can be very dangerous, but used properly is the best of the best.
