The reason I updated the driver was simply a case of not know what the heck
I was doing. I was under the impression that if I updated the driver my HP

I never considered the possibility of causing problems with my Mac.
Ignorance is a poor excuse, but there it is. I only wish I had applied the
adage: "If it ain't broke don't fix it."
AppleTalk is in the control panel and " Connect via: Printer Port.is
selected. Under the "setup" box it reads Current zone: <no zones available>
Again, I don't understand what this means.
AppleTalk Info:
Open Transport: 1.1.2
AppleTalk: 1.1.2
AppleTalk driver 60.1.2
When I open Chooser I can click on printer icons but nothing appears in the
"select a Postscript Printer.
How are you connecting between the Mac and the LaserPrinter? Are you
using LocalTalk connectors, or are you using ethernet? It does make a
difference. LocalTalk uses the Mac's Printer Port and has a little box
that has twin RJ11 connectors and telephone wire. Ethernet uses either
the AAUI Port and Interface box, or an RJ45 Port on the Mac. Which
one the OS sees is determined by the "Connected Via" Pulldown in the
Appletalk Control Panel. Looks like your Mac ius seeing the Printer
Port right now and if your LaserPrinter is ethernet, you need to change
the setting in the "Connected Via" Pulldown to Ethernet. Zones only
come into play, if you have an AppleTalk Router on your network.
