I'm guessing that the video driver on the installation disk doesn't

I've got an external firewire hard drive with 10.3 on it, but for some
reason my computer puts the disk on the desktop, but won't see that
drive as a boot disk.
I tried hooking this powerbook to a macbook in target drive mode... but
didn't get anywhere like that either. The DVD only wants to install on
the macbook when it is connected to the powerbook.
Bob-
You may have several separate problems.
1. Are you sure the FireWire HD is bootable? As I recall, only those
with the Oxford interface chip set are bootable.
2. Does the PB have the ability to read DVDs? Tiger normally comes on a
DVD, and must be traded-in for a set of CDs for the older machines.
3. Are you trying to install Tiger from the CD that came with the
MacBook? I don't think that will work. You must have the commercial
release Tiger CD to install on the older machines. Your external monitor
may not work because Tiger is NOT ready to install. It might just be
displaying an error message on the PB's screen, and never went far enough
to load drivers for an external monitor.
4. For the same reason, the MacBook's installation disk only works on an
Intel machine connected in FireWire Target mode.
There were discussions on the net when the Intel machines first came out,
that led me to believe Tiger would not be released as "Universal", and OS
10.5 would be the first that could install on both platforms.
