Re: iPod Mini Problems, Disgust at Apple website...

I've used the Apple support web pages to request service for my iPod
three times, and three times I've had replacement parts dropped off at
my front door *within twelve hours of submitting my request*. Entered
the request at night, had new stuff in the morning. I've never seen
anything like it.

This means that Apple products are a bit dicey but their support is
amazing.

Here's the web page for support in Britain.

http://depot.info.apple.com/ipod/?country=uk&language=en

Go down to the bottom of the page, fill in your country and serial
number, press go, and fill in the form. It's just like sending them an
email.

If you can't get to it go to the iPod section on the Apple website, and
use your browser's search function to find the word "support".

The only reason I'm writing is because I've had web page support rage
several times, but Apple, of all companies, really doesn't warrant it.

I have an iPod mini which recently on the loss of battery (low
battery symbol displayed) has died. I cannot get any reaction when
it has been put on an AC adapter, USB and FireWire port on both a
Mac and a Windows XP PC. I've owned the iPod since August 2005, and
although was aware of the battery problems iPod are common for I did
not expect mine to break after 5 months. I also own a iPod non-colour
scroll wheel, which commonly cuts out of battery and wipes its own
hard drive. I find these problems disgraceful that Apple can seem to
continually sell this product knowing every time its faulty. Anyway,
due to the faults with the two iPods i have regularly tried to find
a solution on the apple website. Although I find this so-called
"award winning" site poor. Unlike so many other technology based
company's (cell phone manufacturers, networks etc.) that have
support sites, there is no direct link to email apple asking for
information from a real person about a specific fault and specific
symptoms. I get the impression that even though the iPod mini is
under a warranty, Apple are trying to make it near impossible to use
this to fix faults. I also feel that they do not want an email
support service as they know everyday they will be bombarded by
complaints.

I own a iBook 12", and have done since June 2005 although I have had
to problems with this so far, I am all to aware now that knowing
Apple, something will go wrong. I wish I had never purchased the
iPod's. I'm sure other MP3 players from companies such as Creative,
Sony and Panasonic etc. never had SO many faults.

Anyway, if anyone has any help for me with the iPod's, any links on
how to email Apple or just general help about them please reply.
Also I am interested how I can initiate the warranty to get the iPod
mini a battery replacement, or atleast have it repaired. SURELY A
£180 PRODUCT THAT BREAKS 5 MONTHS LATER IS TERRIBLE SERVICE AND
SHOULD BE A MAJOR ISSUE THE COMPANY WOULD WISH TO FIX!

Any general thoughts about anything within the post would be most
appreciated, Thanks
