Me: a minimalist dock with only Finder, Trash, active applications, and
hidden documents.

She: a dock filled with tiny icons for a host of applications and
documents alongside the required Finder and Trash.

Me: a desktop usually void of any icons.

She: a desktop with perhaps thirty randomly positioned document icons.

Me: sixteen spaces with a separate space assigned for each of my
commonly used applications.

She: an absolute hater of spaces.

Me: a single administrator account and several user accounts, the
different user accounts used for different major activities.

She: a single administrator account and no user accounts.

Me: one who likes to create soothing screen backgrounds, say scenes of
clouds, waves, leaves, grass, etc.

She: the single default Snow Leopard background.

I could go on, but in fairness I do want to say that I can't be
critical of her choices given that she is exceedingly productive with
her Mac and that's what really matters!

And as an aside we are both in complete agreement on the importance of
backing up, both of us being users of Time Machine and both of us doing
nightly cloning of our internal drives using SuperDuper!.

Hubby's been using Macs since 1981, me since 1995.
My husband is a desktop icon freak, his desktop is so full that you
can't see the background at all. I have several icons, but nothing to
compare with his. I like my icons in a reasonably mathematical
presentation, sitting lined up in rows like soldiers, his are more
catch-as-catch-can.
No Spaces for either of us. I actually tried it but was not able to make
it work for my situation, perhaps I did not try it long enough. I
frequently use several applications at a time and switch back and forth
between different apps' windows frequently. (Safari, Excel, Word, PDF
Compress, Combine PDFs, Preview).
One thing that bugs me: he doesn't use keyboard commands much, and I
really like them. Popping a couple keys is easier for me than mousing
most of the time and I figure it delays wrist problems.
He often leaves many programs open forever, I'm a open-and-then-close
person except for my frequently used programs.
We both use our primary admin account all the time.
We both use backgrounds of our choice, however while he likes the
colorful ones, I tend to go for more subdued non-intrusive
pastel-colored ones that make my folders easier to see.
