Ahh, backup.log goes through 2009-04-19. The first message in
system.log is:
Apr 21 00:00:00 Howard-Brazees-Computer newsyslog[31588]: logfile
turned over

Odd that April 20th is not visible here. But I caught Mike
Rosenberg's note that /var/log was visible, so I scrolled down.

system.log.0.bz2 has the date I want (is year visible in this?).

I see pages and pages of data - too many for Usenet messages (and
maybe unwise to include logon ids and stuff).

Again, look for entries with a time and date stamp at the time of the
problem. You can't realistically expect us to know when your slow boot
happened, right? That's something only you know. Any other log entries
won't be helpful.

Next time your computer boots slowly, note the time and date. Then open
the system log and find the corresponding entries (from the time and
date you noted, onward until the end). Once you have found the correct
entries, post them here.

E-mail sent to this address may be devoured by my very hungry SPAM
