[responding to my negative commenting regarding placing one's wrists on the
surface on which the keyboard rests while typing]

Keyboards are a lot lower (closer to the desk) than the typewriter keys
used to be; it wouldn't have been possible to rest your wrists on the desk
with a manual typewriter and achieve any kind of speed.

Not only are keyboards closer to the desk, they are considerably less sloped.
Also the keys have far less travel when pressed. To me that is all an
improvement.

As an aside my current keyboards are the new aluminum ones from Apple. I find
that they have, at least for me, excellent tactile feedback. I also like that
they are virtually silent when in use as something that drives me up the
literal wall is the clickety-clackety sound of a a keyboard--but that's just
me!

I had a buddy once who was complaining about pain in his elbows, and I
suggested that he not rest his hands on the desk when typing, and he was
offended, "I'm a trained pianist, I never drop my wrists."

As I mentioned in my opening posting placing one's hands on the desk or on a
wrist rest while typing impedes the ability to have the hands themselves move
about while typing. I've often used the example of a pianist when trying to
convince people to not use the verschllugginer wrist rest while typing.
