FYI: All you need to do to avoid that "confusion" is tell Parallels not
to use the CD/DVD drive and iPod.
I checked preferences, saw nothing, then went to devices and
disconnected the DVD. I saw under preferences/devices/USB, the iPod,
but didn't see what checking it or unchecking it did.
I'm not running Parallels at the moment, but I would imagine clearing
that checkbox would prevent the VM from accessing it.
