The iTV device - video out options

As part of today's rollout of iTunes 7 and the new iPods, Apple offered a
"sneak peek" at their set top box due out in the first quarter of 2007.

Overall this looks like a very slick box - very much like an airport express for audio, but with video out, a remote control, and a built-in GUI. A great way
to get all your computer-resident media out to the living room while leaving
your Mac (or PC running iTunes!) in the den/study/...
But...
The video-out ports include: HDMI and component video and ... nothing else.
Now I know I am a bit behind the curve on the HDTV front, but it seems to me
that a large percentage of homes have TV's with neither HDMI nor component
inputs.
My 50+ inch Sony projection TV predates the inclusion of component video
jacks by a year or two, but still looks pretty good.
I was curious whether anybody made a component -> s-video adapter, so I took
a look at eBay - nada.
If I am in a situation where I cannot use Apple's set top box to view videos
purchased through the iTunes store (without buying a new TV), then I suspect
that lots of other folks will be in a similar boat.
Or is my situation that rare?
Apple could conceivably include some sort of component->composite/S-video adapter, but it would probably need to leach power off the HDMI connector.
Yuck.
Does anybody else think that limiting this devices to TVs that include
component or HDMI inputs (if that is indeed Apple's intention) is limiting
the market for this device? Or am I the only guy who doesn't already have
an HDTV that would even consider buying such a box? :-)
