Seems to me you would do better to buy a PC, e.g. Lenovo Thinkpad.
Both Linux and Windows were and are designed expressly for PC architecture.

After my experiences with a Thinkpad I would never recommend one to
anybody.
Mine stopped booting after three years of light use, right after the
warranty expired.
I paid $450 to have it fixed, and it wasn't fixed right. IBM was
reluctant to take it in
to fix again, and tried to stick me with another $180 bill for labor.
When I made it
clear that I wasn't going to pay any more, they did some quick "fix",
slapped it back
in the box without bothering to pack it properly, and sent it back.
Five minutes after I
booted it, it crashed and wouldn't boot again. So I tossed it in the
trash. I am disgusted with the lousy IBM hardware and the even lousier
IBM service, and I will never buy another Thinkpad again.

I wouldn't buy one, either, Brian. I never have. But also I do not, will not, cannot be induced to run either Windows or Linux. (Whenever I get a PC, the first thing I do is format the hard disk and install FreeBSD or OpenBSD.) But some other people's needs--and preferences--differ from mine.
