What OS is this machine running ?

OS X - If it is do you have an Administrator account on the machine ?
If not if you have the system disk you can reset the ADMIN password and
then you should be able to unlock stuff.

OS 9 - I am on much less firm ground here. Is there any paper with the
machine or anyone you could ask for the unlock password ?

I'm not much help here but if you could specify the OS I think the
folks in the newsgroup could figure it out.
