OK. I spoke too soon. I wrote my post with nothing attached to the 2.0
card.
With a SanDisk Cruzer flash-disk attached, the computer sleeps OK, but I
get a "device removal" error box when it wakes up.
With an iPod attached and mounted, I get morenuf's problem. The
computer doesn't really sleep, and it can't be woken again.
When the Cruzer is attached to my keyboard or USB 1.1 hub, sleep works
normally, but the Cruzer doesn't wake up, forcing me to remove and
re-plug it (resulting in a device-removal error).
When the iPod is plugged into the 1.1 hub, everything seems normal,
although it takes a minute for sleep to begin. I noticed that the iPod
unmounts itself from the desktop during this time, which didn't happen
when attached to the 2.0 card.
So there is something odd going on. It appears to be some combination
of USB 2.0 and iPods, since the problem doesn't occur when only one of
the two factors are present.
