G5 - video card issues...?

To all:
System: Rev. 1 dual 2.0Ghz G5 with 10.4.2, 1.5 GB RAM (passed HW test),
Radeon X800 with latest drivers and ROM updates, and a 19" ViewSonic
G90fb CRT.
Application: World of Warcraft (WoW)
Problem: I've been getting hard system freezes when running WoW and
nothing I've done has fixed the problem, including replacing bad RAM
and a clean install of the OS and WoW on a new hard drive. Tonight
things took a turn for the worse when my monitor went black and then
displayed a "Freq beyond Range" error. A second later, my G5 completely
shut down without me touching a single button or key. I rebooted,
logged back into WoW, and after a couple of minutes my screen went
black again, and my comp froze with the sound stuttering in the
background. Rebooted again. Logged into WoW, and after a couple
minutes, the game (and my system) froze again.
I suspect the problem is with the X800, which could have bad VRAM, or
maybe is running too hot. The kicker is that when I play Doom 3,
everything runs without a hitch. Sigh.
Anyone have any diagnoses? I'm pulling my hair out.
TIA,
Atticus
