I have come to find myself in a situation where I am in possession of a
PowerPC G3, a relic my uncle has charged me with,

recovering it, and I really have no idea where to even begin; I grew up
on PC's, and my uncle's family on Mac's, but I am the computing
whiz-kid, in their eyes, so all problems are taken to me; Is there any
way i can be lazy, and get away with recovering the data via my PC
station, which is set up for quick swapping of drives, sans-mac? and if
not, does anyone have the faintest idea where i should start, not
knowing the OS on the drive, or even if the Mac it came in works?
Even if the PC can read the format of the Mac's HD, it may not be able to
cope with the Mac's old (assuming OS 9 or before) dual file structure.
One program that may be able to recover such lost data, is Prosoft's Data
Rescue II. As I understand it, a second hard drive or network drive is
required to save rescued files. The program CD is supposed to be bootable
if your G3 is capable of running OS 10.3.
If your G3 is limited to OS 10.2 capability, then perhaps you can find an
older version of the program. Someone else may know of older programs
that meet your needs.
