Re: changing Ram and HD and warranty

but also they write :
WARNING: Apple recommends that you have an Apple-certified technician
install
replacement drives and memory. Consult the service and support
information that
came with your computer for information about how to contact Apple for
service. If
you attempt to install a replacement drive or memory and damage your
equipment,
such damage is not covered by the limited warranty on your computer.

so they could say also if they are unfair, well your MBP doesn't work
because one day you have made (and made probably badly) yourself the
replacement... even if it is not the reason.

Warning you that you should know what you're doing or have the procedure
done by someone who does is a far cry from voiding the warranty if you
touch your HD at all.

I also have a hard time with twelve screws and a ribbon cable being
described as non-trivial. Certainly there are notebooks (as well as
desktop computers) where changing the HD, or RAM or any other component
is at least difficult and possibly risky. The 13" MBP is not one of them.

J.J. told the OP that replacing RAM is fine, but the procedure for
replacing RAM on the machine in question starts with the same 10 screws
the non-trivial HD operation does, and then involves messing with DIMM
slots that, at least in my experience, are far more finicky and fragile
than HD cabling.

I saw a truck today that had "AAA Batteries / Delivered and Installed" on the
side. My first thought was: That's a really weird business model. How many
inept people have urgent need of skinny little battery cells?
