I'm new to google groups so be kind if I am not in the right place to
ask this question, please.

I have a Mac Power PC Performa 6400/200 with OS 9.1 system. Not Linux

I can't use a land line for internet because of where I live. No phone
except cell. I do have access to wireless with roommate's server
(she's Windows).

Can I install something to be able to do WiFi? Can't afford to buy a
new or used Mac already with WiFi or I wouldn't be asking the
question.

Any help would be appreciated. Thank you, Julia

This is not a Google group.

You are using the Google web interface to communicate with a Usneet
News Group.

Its a common mistake that people make when accessing Usenet through
Google.

See: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Usenet

Google's web interface can access its own internal Google Groups as
well as Usneet. Its hard to tell the difference at first glance which
causes regular Usenet users a lot of stress.

You should be able to install a USB card and connect via an ethernet
cable from the router if there is a port on the router or modem.

Similarly, you should be able to install a wireless card if that model
has/had expansion slots.

You then need to get together with your roomate to determine the
necessary log in procedures. They will vary from that of a Windows
system in that themenues will be different.

I don'yt think you will need any special drivers but someone else may
be able to answer that.

In any event it requires opening up the Mac.

The cover slides off and the chassis opens up like a 3-fold letter to
expose the area where the card is installed.

Take static precautions to avoid possible damage to the other
components.
