Thanks for replying Tim, I only upgraded the one hard drive even
starting on other hard drive the problem still persists. I have backed
up and reformatted each HD prob, still the same.

Did you do the update on both OS X installs? If not, can you choose the one
you did not when holding down "option" key at startup? Can you boot from a CD
or other device? If you can do either then try the usual - DiskUtility:
Repair Permissions and Disk.

It seems that with every dot version update and security update there are
folk reporting issues that stem from using Software Update to install it. The
one time I had a minor issue I quit using SU for anything OS related. Instead
I grab the stand-alone package from Apple's site, do the basic maintenance
(disk and permissions repair, backup, etc.) then run the the install.
