Best guess is that the download is stuck.
Try restarting with the shift key held down to boot with all
extensions off and to bypass anything in the start-up items folder,
then check the start-up items folder for anything AOl related.
Usually after downloading AIM you need to restart and then AIM is
launched and installed from there. The installer is supposed to clean
up after itself.
My guess (and it is a guess) that you didn't get a full download and
its trying to execute the installer.
I'd also check for any AIM-related extensions in the Exnetsions folder
and remove them. Then start over.
