Sorry I wasn't clear.
DB Designer is a modeling tool for MySQL. It is a GUI-based tool for
designing & defining tables & relationships, prototyping, doing
data-transforms, and ultimately deploying MySQL databases.
Filemaker looks to me like MS Access. That wont do.
I'm not looking for a database, I have MySQL (or Postgres, if
neccessary).
I'm looking for software to help in the modeling & design of
stand-alone databases. I can (and have) do such work manually, but the
advantage to such a tool is that the model is separate from the
database and lets one do multiple revisions and normalizations without
committing to a given structure. Also, when working with government &
certain other clients, having a graphical representation of the
database model is vital for various reasons.
