I have been encountering problems getting network print server(s) to
work with an HP LaserJet 6P/6MP and a Canon iP4300 (inkjet) printer. The
error I get is "Remote host did not accept data file (32)".
I've seen "data file" references in print status message using LPR
printing so I'll assume you are using LPR (maybe incorrectly). Do your
print servers support LPR? If not, setup your printer in OS X using
Windows printing protocols.
The print servers I have tried are Linksys PSUS4, Netgear PS121 and
Netgear PS101. Makes no difference whether setting up with Mac OS 9 or
Mac OS 10.4.10.
What am I overlooking on the setup/configuration? Or is it simply that
these print servers will not work on a Macintosh network? TIA... Jim
Thanks for your response. As far as set up goes... given the (obvious)
choices in Mac OS 10.4.10's Printer Setup Utility, I've tried IPP and
LPD setups... don't know how to setup LPR given these choices.
Most likely I'm overlooking something in the LPR setup 'cause I'm sure a
lot of users are using the print servers, printers, etc that I've got
with Mac networks.
Still trying to figure out what I don't know? TIA... Jim
