I'm not sure what you are describing. I doesn't sound like anything I've
seen in Mail. A screenshot sure would help.

1. On your keyboard, press Command-Shift-4.
2. On your keyboard, press the space bar.
3. Click the window you want. A picture file will appear on the desktop.
4. Go tohttp://imageshack.us/.
5. Click Browse, then navigate to and select the picture file.
6. Click "host it!".
7. Paste the "Show image to friends" URL in a newsgroup message.

coming out of lurk mode.....how does this screen shot process differ
from apple or command-shift-3? This is the process I am still using
on my Macbook Pro, running 10.4.11.

Cmd-Shift-3 takes a screen shot of the entire screen.

Cmd-Shift-4 takes a screen shot of a smaller area. It has two sub-modes.

In its default mode (with crosshairs cursor) it lets you select a
rectangular area and takes a screen shot of just that rectangle. Click
in one corner and drag across the rectangle you want to capture. The
screen shot is taken at the point you release the mouse button.

If you press the space bar, it toggles into a mode with a camera for the
cursor, which lets you take a screen shot of just one window. The target
window is highlighted as you move the mouse around the screen. Click on
the desired window to take the screen shot.

In both modes, you can cancel the operation without taking a screen shot
by pressing the Esc key.
