Obviously I'm on the very edge of not having a clue about what I'm doing.
In Dreamweaver I can pick colors various ways and my favorite is by the
method where the result looks something like #001AABB. I have cause to use
such in a situation where it is allowed (BBCode) but there is no mechanism
to
know what you're getting. I'm not inclined to open up DW and play around
until I find a color I like. So I'm wondering if there is some little thing
that will show some colors (say a colorwheel or spectrum or whatever) and
when clicking at a point there is a sample of the color and the "#letter"
thing.
Would TextEdit's color selection window be good enough? It starts up
quickly, then you can press command-shift-C to open the Colors window.
Click on the color wheel icon, use the color wheel to choose a color,
then click on the web colors icon to see the web code for that color.
It also has a magnifying glass you can use to match the color of
anything on the screen.
You can make your own stand-alone color picker application by saving
this AppleScript as an application and placing it in your Applications
folder:
-- begin script
choose color
-- end script
