You can bet on what you want. - I HAVE NEVER HAD ANY VERSION OF MACFUSE
INSTALLED ON ANY OF MY COMPUTERS!
And so how do you know, without ever having tried it, that it won't do
what two people who HAVE used it, know from first-hand experience it
_will_ do?

This is so freaking typical of you! YOU can't install System 7.5 on a
Mac with 2 MB of RAM, therefore it's impossible. YOU can't install
Photoshop Elements 2.0 on Macs running OS X 10.2 and higher, therefore
it's impossible. YOU haven't personally had Norton Disk Doctor for Mac
OS X destroy a directory, therefore anyone who _has_ had it happen must
have done something wrong. YOU haven't even tried MacFUSE and you decide
it won't work. YOUR experiences, or lack thereof, do _NOT_ project to
the real world.
Like Gregpry Weston just has written, - there can be some quirks with MacFUSE+NTFS-3G or even NTFS-3G alone with some disks that are to be used crossplatform, - And I have from others been warned to use both the MacFUSE and the NTFS-3G formatting, cause of these quirks! - The Paragon drivers DO work! - We are quite a lot that can state this!

The only problem I ever had with the MacFUSE/NTFS-3G system was that mounting some items was a pain. This vanished with Paragon... but then I got the company to pay for Paragon. If it were my money I'd have stayed with MacFUSE.

What are these quirks that you're having problems with? I've never had any problems with Windows machines reading NTFS volumes formatted using MacFUSE/NTFS-3G.

As I already have written, I haven't used the MacFUSE myself, but some here tell that:
- Mac OS X 10.5.x can't always locate and enable the NTFS-3G
drivers.
- Both Parallels Desktop 3.x and VMWare Fusion tell that no
drivers for NFTS are available when windows run as virtual
machine.
- When booted in XP/Vista, NTFS-3G volumes sometimes are
locked and read-only - fx. a 'Harddisk D'.
- Copy&paste across platform - fx. to/from a Mac, Ubuntu or
RedHat volume to/from a WinXP/Vista/Mac/Ubuntu/RedHat
volume suddenly stops both directly and through network.
- Sometimes access to a filserver in NFTS-3G format is
denied.
- Using application sharing not always works.
- Using printersharing from a system on a NTFS-3G volume.
- Selecting a NTFS-3G formatted disk as default downloaddisk.
- Installing WinXP Pro SP2/SP3 on a NTFS-3G volume won't
take place. - This one I've expected myself, cause I by
unluck selected the NTFS-3G instead of std. NTFS file
system in DiskUtility, so i had to re-initialize a 250gb
HD using the XP formatting utility and start all over
again installing xPPro.
Does not happen with XP/XPPro SP1.

But as written, I've only experienced the last point myself... Using the paragon NTFS software have never given any problem to me when the Windows disk is formatted in standard NFGTS file system, neither trough DiskUtility, nor through the Windows formatting tool. - And it doesn't matter, whether I'm running XPPro as virtual machine through Parallels or are running XPPro in booted mode.

cheers, Erik Richard
