Seems you're right. Redstone's site implied that one had to
acquire a trial or paid license. They also (#$%&%^$%^) said
it works on 10.3.9 and later. Well, I can launch the server
by double-clicking and I can start/stop and set it up as a
StartupItem. Unfortunately, when run as a startup item, it
tries to use TigerBundle instead of PantherBundle (both exist
inside the .app) and of course that crashes. Replacing the entire StartupItem from backup got it running again, but somehow it no longer accepts connections from the PC.
Opinions on alternatives? I installed the server before they renamed it "Vine." I just discovered that when the client is UltraVNC on Windows,
the server I have loses mouse control when user switching occurs.
(Yes, it's running as root outside of any user login)
I use JollysFastVNC for a viewer. It's faster than Chicken of the VNC.
But it also requires 10.4 which means I can't use it at home (10.3.9)
nor for the WinXP that was giving me trouble.
So before, I could connect to the Mac from WinXP and switch to my
account but as soon as I did so, the mouse no longer works.
Closing UltraVNC and reopening it doesn't help.
Anyoen successfully using UltraVNC on Windows to do fast user-switching
on Mac OS 10.3.9 ? If so, what VNC server and what configuraion options?
