Apple Mail - blank preview pane

So I've started using Apple Mail as my email client here at home because
I want a seamless (problem-free) synchronization between my email,
calendar, and address book with my new iPhone as possible. (And BTW, the
iPhone fucking *rocks*! : )

I transferred all my messages, contacts, and calendar events from
Entourage into Mail with no major issues. And I've been using Mail for a
few hours now, mostly without issue. So far it looks like with some
AppleScript work I'll be able to bend it to my will. Goodbye Entourage
(well, except for my work stuff).

Anyway, there is one issue that keeps rearing its ugly head from time to
time. Every so often, I'll highlight a message in the list that causes
Mail to display a completely blank preview pane. Double-clicking the
message to open it in a separate window results in a blank window as
well. And I notice from that point on, all other messages in that folder
are also blank - even messages I had just viewed minutes before! So
obviously this is a display issue as opposed to a missing data issue.

I've tried switching to other folders, and a few other things inside of
Mail to no avail. So far, each time I get fed up and quit Mail, later
when I launch it again, everything is back to normal. But it sure would
be nice to know if any other Apple Mail users experiencing this issue.

I did a few Google searches and found just one mention of such a problem
on Apple's 2003 archive of the macos-x-server mailing list, which isn't
reassuring:
