I would try downloading and installing the very latest Mac OS X Combo
updater from Apple first.

Thanx, guys. I downloaded the updater with Explorer since Safari is
dead. Tried to run it and got "The application Installer quit
unexpectedly" at step 2. No update for me. Now is Arch&Install the only
alternative? Would it help?

Are you sure you downloaded the right one for your Mac?
Try booting in safe mode and installing it.
MacOSXUpdCombo10.4.11PPC.dmg. That's the one for my G5, right?
