I'm a new iTunes user. Some things are great. Some questions: So I
create a playlist from an immense number of files. I'm going through
them paring out the ones I don't want. Now iTunes has this bizarre
trait where the first file that was played stays highlighted. So when
you come back to the playlist to delete that horrible file thats playing
you often delete that first file instead of the one that is presently
playing. Never mind that this seems utterly brain dead stupid on the
part of Apple. Is there a way of getting this program to highlight the
playing file? Failing that, is there an undelete option? Command_Z
didn't work like it normally does. Is there a trash? I thought there
used to be a Trash folder in iTunes but maybe I'm thinking of iPhoto.
Maybe if I could locate the trash folder I could copy the file out of it
and put it back to its original location?
There's never been a trash in iTunes and if you "delete" a file while
looking at a playlist all it does is remove it from the playlist.
I don't know of any way to configure iTunes to have the selection -
which is designated by the user - automatically update to follow the
track that happens to have started playing, and I don't particularly
agreeing that keeping those concepts separate is "brain dead." I'd be
pissed if I clicked on one or more files to manipulate and then, in the
instant before I hit the keystroke, the selection magically changed
because I *also* happened to be playing music at the time. Then again,
the playing track might not even be shown in the current list.
That said, if *you* want that behavior and are willing to throw a few
bucks my way I'll write it for you as an iTunes plugin.
