I'm stumped.
You're CERTAIN that events occurred as you described them in message
<Mcjyk.8529$vH6.1494@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx>?
Indeed I am. I checked and double checked since the results seemed
so unusual. When I did find the email in question via the GMail
web interface, I certainly could recall reading it earlier via
Mail. So I'm sure it was there at some stage. And I'm sure it's
not there now!
The fact that I still can't POP it now is also a concern... I
wonder is it possible for Google to mark it "cancelled" or
something, such that the next time Mail did a POP session, it
noticed that the email should be retracted and so hid it?
If you can see it in GMail, try forwarding it to yourself. If there's
some corruption in the message you may bypass it.
The forwarded email arrived without a problem. Other GMail emails I
stuck back into the Inbox and marked unread didn't download either,
suggesting Mail has already registered their IDs and wont d'load
them a second time. That also suggests that the suspect email was
indeed d'loaded at some stage and Mail has noted its ID (since it
wont download again).
Where it went after it downloaded however, remains a mystery. I'm
going to have to put this down to a 1 in a million quirk and hope
it never happens again!
