Hello Dorayme,

Your URL is diplayed in Zeal font, instead of Times, i.e. it is five
lines of arrows and triangles.

If I change the default font to Arial (or anything else), it becomes
three lines of ordinary English text.

Now that is interesting. As you say, it is served correctly with a
proper Doctype, etc., and it validates fully with W3C. So, it should
have rendered correctly even with Times as my default font - but it
didn't. However, I'm now not sure what this means, although I'm now
leaning towards feeling there is a problem in my Mac.

Do you have any words of wisdom?

Well, let's probe a bit more. Try:

<http://dorayme.890m.com/alt/septicTankStrict.html>

And then:

<http://dorayme.890m.com/alt/septicTankFonted.html>

With the latter, you might care to go into your system fonts and
slightly alter your Times font's name so it cannot be found by the
browser. You may have to restart or at least quit browser and restart
browser. It will then try to use Times New Roman, if no trouble, then
clearly it is your Times that is at fault. If there is trouble still,
next thing to do is disable Times New Roman and let New York take over
(it should go this way because I have put in some font-family CSS
instructions to the browser).
