Or perhaps more like a thorn in his paw. You're familiar with the fable
about the mouse who removes the thorn from the lion's paw, aren't you?
Well, in this version, the mouse doesn't want to just help the lion with
the immediate problem, he wants to work with the lion to prevent it from
happening again, so he asks questions about how the lion came to have a
thorn in his paw in the first place.

The lion roars, "I asked for help with THIS problem!" and proceeds to
eat the mouse. So, not only does he still have a thorn in his paw, but
word spreads through the animal kingdom about this incident, and before
long none of the animals are ever willing to try to help the lion again.

Of course the lion blames the mice.
