So I'm checkout out my other backup options as Silverkeeper keeps on

The only others I could think of that I didn't try were Retrospect and
Carbon Copy Cloner. Silverkeeper gave me the option of excluding
certain files. Maybe I was a little tired but I didn't see any way of
excluding specific files in any of the above backup programs. Did I
miss something? Excluding some large, unimportant files will
dramatically reduce the time needed to backup the system and is
imperative.

I use Retrospect. It's got fairly flexible rule-based filtering,
including - as the most convenient way to exclude arbitrary files - the
ability to reject files based on their Finder label and/or that of a
folder in their path.
