Well now that we know you are running 10.5, we can tell you that you
cannot run Classic, Apple's Mac OS 9 emulation environment. You can,
however, run SheepShaver, a Mac OS 8 / 9 emulator - though some
applications written for "Sys 6.0.7" may not run correctly in Mac OS 8
or 9.
You still haven't told us what "best practices" you are asking about, or
how they related to these old applications that you refuse to name.
While i am very sure we can help you, you're going to get only as much
help as you allow us to give you. Ask proper questions, supplying enough
information that we can understand your question, and you'll get decent
answers.
