I see--looking at what I asked originally--that I was not specific
enough. Graphics I know immediately I want to save, like family fotos,
go to appropriate folders here and there. What I was wondering was
whether there was a way to find all the odds and ends I DON'T "save as"
this or that.

Graphics like taht are stored in the message they came with. Mail.app
does not munge the original message by stripping out the attachments
like Eudora did.

With Eudora, EVERYTHING went into the generic Attachments folder, which
I periodically pruned and organized when I had time.

Yes, that was one of the least useful 'features' of Eudora.
Well, that's a matter of opinion. I did like being able to find
all of them at once and organize them there, so it had advantages. Not
opening IN the message didn't bother me particularly.

You can search in mail.app for mails with attachments, sort a mailbox by
size, or use spotlight to try and move in on an attachment you are
looking for.

It seems to me I'd have to know its name.
