Just out of curiosity, why didn't you just purchase the Apple USB modem?It's not a 56K modem (or any other value). It's a wireless modem that connects using the mobile phone networks (again, as english is not my native language, there are words I don't know in english, sorry).
Ah ok I see. In that case, it probably requires USB drivers (more than just a simple application), and those drivers are failing to load/run properly.
That's possible, indeed.
The light on the modem flashes as it should, anyway.
