Accessing Mac Created Zip File Remotely

I am running Mac OS 10.4.10 (OS X Tiger) and I want to work with zip
compression. I want to take some PDF files put them in a folder, zip
the folder, store it on a remote server and point it to a link on my
Blog. I used the finder feature in OS X to "archive the file" which
puts it in a zip format. Problem is that when someone on a remote PC
clicks on the link on my Blog, they get two files (one named OS X and
one named per my instruction). Both folders have exact duplicates of
the same PDFs. Does anyone know how I can do this and have just my
zipped file with the PDFs without the other file. I am assuming it is
some sort of hidden file that relates the the finder/archiving feature
of the Mac! I used a shareware program called Springy to look the
hidden contents and there is a file called da.? I removed that file but
haven't tested the zip file to see if it upacks differently on the other
end. If anyone has any suggestions I would appreciate it. Wish that
WinZip was readily available on the Mac side as I do not think I would
have this problem. Is there another free shareware program that can zip
my folder so that when it gets uploaded an accessed remotely, it will be
cleaner? Thanks for any help you can offer!
